Yoga
About
Philosophy
Learning to love herself and stay steady inside has been one of the greatest gifts Nancy has received from her yoga studies and practice. Yoga invites us to turn inward and with compassion accept what’s present. Sometimes turning to face inward and take off the blinders doesn’t always yield results we’re happy with, yet without this how can we honestly come to love ourselves, others or even life itself?
Yoga is a practice that keeps on giving when you provide your sustained effort and commitment and each aspect of the practice yields something worthwhile: Through the physical practices of yoga for example, Nancy has seen changes in her strength and stamina, enhanced body integration, better immunity, and resilience, to name a few. And the byproduct of her daily meditation practice has been an interior steadiness and clarity. This steadiness - like an anchor - is something that keeps her grounded amidst the ever-changing and sometimes wild landscape of life on the outside. Yep, that’s right: Life still happens! Yoga is not an easy escape from difficulties, challenges, or heartbreak, you just learn how to navigate rough waters with more skill and the bounce-back is a little quicker.
Teaching is a natural extension of who Nancy is and she is passionate about sharing a practice that she considers profoundly healing and a gateway to greater enjoyment and connectivity to life.
Teaching Style
Nancy’s class pacing is slow, steady, and mindful creating a practice that enhances sustainability and longevity. She skillfully weaves alignment-based, stair-stepped instruction with breath and an emphasis toward graceful and seamless transitions. In her classes your growth edge will expand but in a way that you get to calibrate. Nancy creates a learning environment that inspires, challenges and at the same time is welcoming and supportive. You’ll leave her class uplifted and grounded and ready for more.
Testimonials
“Can’t recommend 1:1 sessions with Nancy enough! She really takes the time to understand what’s going on with your body and tailors each session to help heal vs overextend. The 1:1 attention is especially helpful for keeping an eye on form. Nancy is so kind and encouraging - I leave every session in a state of bliss!”
“Inspiring, nurturing, renewing, comforting, connected”
“Working with Nancy is a true privilege. She can see the adjustments I need to make for my body, describe them to me, and help me feel the differences. One small shift helps me go so much more deeply into a pose. She's also great at suggesting new poses to incorporate into my practice that help me open up in different ways.”
“Challenging, supportive, unconditional acceptance, integrated mind and body evolution”
“I wholeheartedly recommend Nancy to anyone looking for a yoga teacher who is not only an expert but also a supportive mentor. Her dedication and genuine care for her students make her an exceptional guide on the journey of self-discovery and well-being.”

It is in the group experience that we better get to know and appreciate ourselves. We are surrounded with people that are more mobile, strong etc. as well as those that are not. This becomes the perfect opportunity to learn to stay present in our own body while moving and breathing together with others. Cultivating Joy: A One-Day Retreat for Renewal
Sunday, December 14, 2025 | 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Vashon Island, WA
$125/person (Only 10 spots left! Reserve here.)As we move into the holiday season and the close of the year, it’s easy to feel swept up in the pace of doing — social gatherings, expectations, and obligations that can leave us feeling disconnected or drained.
What if, instead, you gave yourself a day to slow down, to tend to your heart, and to remember the quiet joy that lives within you — steady, unconditional, and always available?
This day-long retreat offers a gentle, nourishing space to reconnect with that inner wellspring of joy and renewal. Through mindful movement, breath, art, and rest, we’ll explore how to stay grounded, openhearted, and compassionate — even when the world feels heavy.
When we meet difficulty with awareness and compassion, we make space for tenderness and healing. As Henri Nouwen reminds us, “Joy does not simply happen to us — we have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day.”
Amid the challenges of our time, may we also remember the countless acts of kindness and the earth’s quiet renewal that continue all around us. This retreat is an invitation to touch that remembering — to feel your inner light, to breathe deeply, and to return home to yourself.
Your day will include:
Gentle somatic movement + slow, heartfelt yoga
A trauma-informed conscious breath journey
Guided meditation and reflection
Drawing Within: mindful drawing practices to deepen awareness and connect with the present moment (no art experience needed)
Time for journaling, rest, and connection
Leave feeling lighter, clearer, and more open to the joy that is always here — ready to enter the holidays and new year with presence, ease, and grace.
